MLC members help to prepare and serve meals for
seniors; drive for 'Meals on
Wheels'; and support the Milwaukie Center
with volunteer receptionist support.

The Annie Ross House is a Milwaukie shelter for
women and children. MLC participates in conjunction with local
inter-denominational churches in our community.
HOUSE OF ZION

collecting pull tabs for the Ronald McDonald House of Portland.
The simple task of collecting 'pull tabs' off of soda,

operations of the Ronald McDonald House in
Portland. Two bear shaped collection
containers are located in the hallway by the
choir room. BACKPACK BUDDIES

SISTER CHURCH IN JASTRZEBIE, POLAND

The parishioners of
Milwaukie Lutheran Church, Milwaukie, Oregon, wish the
parishioners of our sister church in Jastrzebie, Poland, a
very happy Easter.
We
would like to share some pictures of a few things that
have happened since the first of the year and some that are on
going. This Lenten season, we have done something different
with our Lenten cross. We have strung beads on it to represent
the 24,000 people who die each day from hunger related
diseases. We now have about 11,000 beads on it. For our Lenten
services, Pastor Mantey has been sharing stories of Lutheran
missionaries in different parts of the world.
Our
youth have been busy raising money for their summer mission trip
to a large city to
work
with homeless people. To help with that, they held a Valentine
Day dinner. Adults
cooked the food but the youth served it and helped clean up
afterwards. At the same time
there
was a silent auction of items to purchase …another way for them
to earn money.

SERVERS
FOR VALENTINES
SILENT AUCTION
The
Sunday School’s Lenten project has been to collect money to buy
chickens and rabbits to send to Lutheran Relief. They have a
basket of
empty
plastic eggs in the narthex. Everyone is encouraged to fill an
egg
with money to help buy the animals.
At
the beginning of the year, an all church project was buying
goats
for
Ethiopia.

One
of the ways Milwaukie Lutheran Church reaches out to the
community is through our preschool for children 3 and 4 years of
age. This has been an ongoing outreach for many years. One of
the pictures below shows the brightly painted hallway in the
preschool area.
There is a picture
bulletin board of outreach activities and volunteers pictures in
hallway next to choir room.
