Cheryl Drewes........................Director of Music

Cheryl Drewes is a native of Boston. Her first, formative musical experiences centered around activities of the local theater organ club, where she developed interests in all styles of music, improvisation and the accompaniment silent films. After the usual childhood schedule of piano lessons, band and choir, she completed undergraduate majors in composition and music education at the University of Lowell (Massachusetts), and the Master of Music Degree in organ performance from New England Conservatory.

Her husband, Tim, is Director of Music Ministries at Saint Luke's Episcopal Church, Vancouver, Washington. Both Cheryl and Tim enjoy performing throughout the Pacific Northwest and New England on organ, piano and solo tuba. Cheryl also plays accordion and bass guitar in the traditional Irish Band, Wild Thyme.

Cheryl's diverse musical interests and love of community continue to inspire her ministry at Milwaukie Lutheran. She, in collaboration with many others, encourages a wide variety of church song styles spanning generations, cultures and instrumentation, presented by people of all ages.

Cheryl and Tim have lived in Portland since 1987. Their son, Isaac, arrived in 1995. Besides music, Cheryl, Tim and Isaac enjoy family life, visiting museums and historical places, bicycling, camping and playing at the beach.
